Lorelei (or the Lorelei) a figure in German folklore who threw herself into Rhine River after her lover was unfaithful and was transformed into a water spirit. She dwelled on rocks luring ships to destruction with singing making her description similar to that of the Greek mythology's siren.
A large rock was named after her on that very river which produces an echo.
Her existence is yet unconfirmed. However there is evidence that she was real. The DNM has not spent many resources pursuing an investigation as it lies outside our national borders. Even if she was, she is presumed dead.
