The Department of Natural Mysteries (DNM) is a department of the federal government of Canada. It was officially founded in 1945 upon discovery of a paranormal object of immense power requiring containment. Since then its operations have been done surreptitiously to maintain peace and the perceived natural order of the world. Most people don't even know if its existence by design.
Its existence is unique in that its parallel to the Department of National Defense in its operations. It cooperates with the Canadian Armed Forces and often uses active service members for operations though it is wholly autonomous. Its authority can override that of even the highest rank of the unified Canadian military.
