The premier hotel and gambling establishment of Ratwater, The Fuzzy Gentleman caters primarily to traveling merchants, arena spectators, successful fighters, caravan masters, and those wealthy enough to afford comfort on the fringes of civilized life.  Situated along the main road into Ratwater, near to the arena, the establishment has become one of the town's most recognizable landmarks for outsiders arriving with coin to spend and expectations higher than what most northern settlements can normally provide.

Unlike the old inn, the Fuzzy Gentleman was built specifically to present an image of refinement and stability within an otherwise rough frontier town.  Clean floors, polished wood, fresh linens, warm lighting, and attentive staff create an atmosphere noticeably removed from the mud, smoke, and chaos common elsewhere in Ratwater.  While not luxurious by noble standards, it is considered exceptionally respectable for northern Westreach, particularly this far separated from major cities.

It takes it's name from the signature drink that first brought the business popularity years ago, a sweet peach and citrus cocktail favored by traveling merchants, arena patrons, and visitors seeking a more "civilized" evening than Ratwater typically offers.  Though many locals still find the name somewhat ridiculous, the success of the business ensured it remained.

The Fuzzy Gentleman's owner is Corvin Merrick, a sharply dressed and perpetually composed businessman known for his gambling, negotiation, and intuition skills.  Under his management, the Fuzzy Gentleman developed a reputation not necessarily for extravagance, but for professionalism.  Rooms are secure, disputes rarely become public, cheating is dealt with swiftly and discreetly, and serious trouble just never manages to linger for long in the establishment.

The attached gambling hall serves as Ratwater's primary gathering place for wealthier visitors and arena spectators.  Betting on arena fights, caravan routes, trade ventures, card games, and various frontier competitions occurs nightly beneath soft lamplight and careful observation.  Though gambling losses are common, outright violence within the premises is surprisingly rare, a fact many attribute to Merrick's private security staff and the unspoken understanding that causing major problems for the Fuzzy Gentleman causes larger problems for those that cause them.

The business itself occupies an unusual social position within the town.  Adventurers, merchants, arena champions, local criminals, caravan guards, and traveling officials have all been known to pass through its doors at various times, often sharing the same room while pretending not to notice each other.  The establishment itself makes no public claims of neutrality, yet over time it has quietly developed a reputation as one of the few places where business can occur without unnecessary conflict spilling into the open.

For many travelers arriving in town for the first time, the Fuzzy Gentleman is often their first impression of the town itself, a polished attempt at civilization standing carefully against the frontier pressing in around it.
