Albayt is a bit of a strange City State. The Iron Wheel surrounds the Great Lands, and one of it's most prosperous spokes is the Southern Line. Albayt is In the middle of the Southern line where the prairie meets desert before getting to the swamps.
It's both a hard scrabble land and a bread basket. It's a land of the brightest sun, and the darkest vices. Albayt is like the dirty version of Záhrada. Záhrada is a melting pot where everyone mixes together, but Albayt is a city version of oil and water. When it's shaken up, everything mixes up delishisly, but allowed to settle everything seperates.
Albayt is a city of neighborhoods. Each of the different peoples of the Great Lands live among themselves by choice. They are also slightly mistrustful of outsiders, but they all work in the city center where the commerce happens. And most of the commerce lives in a legally grey area. Things that are illegal all over the rest of the Great Lands are legal in Albayt. The casinoa are as much of a cornerstone of the economy of Albayt as much as the grain from the farms around the city are.
