On this plane, the distinction between matter and nothingness is more fluid than the material world, allowing those inside to pass through most solid objects with ease. Travel in the ethereal plane is also unhampered by the gravity of the material universe. By bringing their own souls of light and darkness to this plane, beings retain a window into the material world and they can see what's happening.
