Constructs and automatons of humanoid shapes are often created by arcanists and artificers of great skill, but that complex spells that fuel them and give them operating logic are peculiar and prone to quirks and bugs. On rare occasions, they develop the ability to think and from there, sentience.

Warforged- These beings are generally crafted of wood and metal alloys, and were created serve a specific utilitarian purpose, usually as warriors or workers or helpers. The warforged tend to struggle with questions of what it means to be a sentient humanoid and how to fit in with the world around them.

Starforged- The starforged are made of rock and iron and ice with a magical core of pure light energy. No one knows where they come from exactly. They crash into Fronterra in the form of meterorite balls and from the crater, a starforged emerges. It's only recent breakthroughs that discovered their magical cores share almost identical arcane threads as the warforged created by mages on Fronterra. The prevailing theory is that some people, out in space, create the starforged and send them to the planet with a purpose. Indeed, the starforged are concerned with a unique question that is deeply engrained to their sense of being and spend their whole lives seeking the answer to their question. These driving questions are never straightforward, and are more existential or epistemological, like "Who am I?", "What is life?", "Is the universe real?", etc.
