Born Naeris Kiaren to Human Rhyssa Hathwood Marivaldi and Elven Immarel Kiaren, Yalana spent the first thirteen years of her life as a daughter of the noble house of Kiaren. While it was a life if luxury, she and her mother suffered abuse from Immarel and Immarel's family. When Yalana was thirteen, Rhyssa took her daughter and ran. Pursued by soldiers of house Kiaren, Yalana was eventually separated from her mother and caught. Out in a field in the middle of a thunderstorm, lightning struck. The soldiers perished but Yalana survived. Alive, but injured.
Her mother brought her to a nearby village for help, and by chance there were a couple of Clerics of Kord there. They healed Yalana, and told her and her mother about the nearby Earthshaker Temple where Yalana would end up living for five years and befriended Quarry. Sometime during this time, she renamed herself Yalana Hathwood (Yalana after her maternal grandmother). Upon reaching adulthood she left Earthshaker to join The Silver Legion. During her ten years there she rose to the rank of Battle Gauntlet. While offered the rank of Banner Charger she decliend the promotion, fearing that it would bring her to her father's attention.
At the crowning of Uriar she met the then-unnamed group that formed the first iteration of the W.A.R.D.S (Arjhan, Elissa, harsyre and Sai).
After the defeat of The Order of the Reaper she accepted the rank of Banner Charger.
