Clockwork
Race based on Shadow of the Demonlord
Ability Score Increase. Your Ability Score Increase is based on your Reason to Exist and is defined by your subrace.
Alignment. Most clockworks contain the soul of a criminal, but don't remember their past. They are designed for a purpose and therefore follow orders. Their alignment is mostly lawful and tend to neutral.
Size. Your size varies from 4 ft. up to 7 ft. and you might weigh from about 120 to 300 pounds.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. Your speed is not reduced by wearing heavy armor. You are unable to wear armor, but can upgrade parts of your body.
Immunities. You have immunity against poison (and poison damage), diseases and being exhausted.
Mechanical Body. You don't need to eat, drink or breath. You do not age and can't be turned into an undead. You can't swim because you are too heavy, so that being in liquids lets your body sink. Instead of sleeping you need to go into a cool down mode once per day for 8 hours, while your conscious is gone but your windup key runs at a slow pace, restarting you automatically. You do not regain hit points by natural means, but gain all other effects of a rest.
Metal Armor. Your body is made of metal. Your base AC can't be lower than 12 + your dexterity modifier.
Windup Key. Somewhere on your body is a windup key, you can't touch yourself. As long as your clockwork is wound up you count as a living creature. If your windup key stands still you are considered an object. Your windup key stands still if you get unconcious. As long as you are an object you can't take actions or reactions, can't talk or take note of your surroundings. Every creature next to you can take an action to wind up your key again. If you were unconcious, you can roll a d6 in the moment your key is wound up. If you roll a 4 or higher, you regain 1 hp and are alive at the end of your next round. As long as you are unconcious and an object your are still considered dying.
Repairing. As long as you are a living creature you can be healed like a living creature. If you are an object, you can get repaired by using appropriate tools. These repairs need at least 4 hours of manual work or at least 1 hour of casting mending by another creature onto you. After that you may spend a number of hit die to regain hit points equal to the number rolled + your constitution modifier per hit die. Healing Surge Ruling: Have mending as a spell and you regain hit points as described but need to pay two hit die instead of one each time.
Sturdy Body. For each hit die you gain one additional hitpoint in addition to your constitution modifier. This also applies if you use hit die to regain hit points as part of a short rest.
Languages. You know common and one non exotic language of your choice.
Warmachine
Reason to Exist. Your reason to exist was a crucial part of your design. You were designed for work or war and can increase your Strength or Dexterity by 2, but need to reduce Wisdom, Intelligence or Charisma by 1.
Crank Gears. You can take an Action Surge as if you were a fighter. Roll a d6 after that. On a even numbered result your windup key stands still. You regain this ability after a long rest.
Gemstone Automaton
Reason to Exist. Your reason to exist was a crucial part of your design. You were designed for less physically work, you were designed for pen jobs, as a diplomat or as a keeper of lore. You can increase your Wisdom, Intelligence or Charisma by 2, but need to reduce your Strength or Dexterity by 1.
Technomancy Apprentice. Your core is a gemstone that is partly visible on the outside of your mechanical body. Through this gemstone you are able to cast magic. You know the Mending cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Caltrops spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the Bolt Thrower spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Your spell casting modifier for this spells is based on your Reason to Exist.
