Knights of Accord
The Knights of Accord were formed in North America shortly after the Salem Witch Trials. The founders, a Vampire, a Werewolf, and a Mage, created the alliance in order to shield supernatural beings from Hunters. Elysiums and safe havens were created in the swiftly growing cities of New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. As the colonies grew, so did the KoA. Later, as the United States was formed, and expansion into the West began, other large cities and communities created their own branches of the Knights.
As populations grew, so did the KoA discover new creatures of darkness. The first Changelings joined the organization during the American Civil War. Prometheans, the Created, were included during the Great Depression. And following the end of the Cold War, Geists were acknowledged among the Knights’ ranks.
The Knights of Accord moved out of private homes and businesses during the 1970’s. They began purchasing and using the aptly named KOA campground franchises to hide in plain sight. Each Kampground was owned and operated by a team of six supernaturals. When one would step down, move, or die, the remaining members would vote on the replacement.
The Rules of Elysium were simple: No violence, criminal activity, or powers could be used against anyone seeking sanctuary, the proprietors, the property itself, or against the mortal guests. Those needing safe haven were permitted on grounds for 72 hours, and any staying beyond that were put to work. Any in violation of the rules were removed from the property immediately, and either banished or put to death depending on the severity of the violation.
In late 2019, when the COV Pandemic was in its early stages, the Knights of Accord were one of the very few groups to prepare for the worst case scenario. Their communication network was boosted, water wells were dug, and solar panels were installed at all facilities. Food, medical supplies, and weapons were stockpiled and stored. By the time the Pandemic hit North America in full force, and the global economy had begun to collapse, the Knights were prepared to weather the socio-economic downfall.
The mortal world as everyone knew it had fallen, and the supernatural world followed suit. As governments and political organizations crumbled, so did the coteries of the creatures of darkness. Leaders scrambled to hold power, and new leaders emerged from the ashes of war. With billions dead, factions of supernaturals came out of hiding to rebuild a world that would suit them best. The Knights of Accord knew that in order to save themselves, they would have to save their mortal allies as well.
In the end, the Knights helped save the central North American regions of the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. They formed their own alliance with Hunters and mortal leaders who had been displaced, abandoned, or hunted by the creatures who had risen to power. The result of this alliance created the Free States of North America, a move that has served them well since 2023.
But the servants of darkness still remain. Mortals thrown into desperation have gone rogue. The borders of the Free States are being threatened. Will the Knights of Accord stay faithful to their alliance? Will they negotiate terms with their neighbors? Or will they fall to their enemies and become lost to the history of the future?
