Enchantment

The art of enchantment is complicated, arduous, and expensive, but the results are often worth it. Enchantment tends to fall under the following categories:

Enchantment Spell

The simplest form of enchantment, these are ordinary spells that last a given duration. The use of enchantment spells on unwilling participants, in particular charm spells, is illegal in most nations due to the manipulation of consent.

Enchantment Rune

The word 'rune' in this category is simply due to the term given to the item sold in high-end magic shops, they need not necessarily be runes. An enchantment rune is simply an enchantment placed on an item that lasts longer than a spell, but still finite. The item takes on magical properties into itself that eventually fade in time. The resulting drain of magical energy often results in the item breaking or tearing, no longer able to conduct magic as easily from then on. Certain powers granted by divine blessings or the like avoid this side effect.

Anomaly

There are reports that items somehow become enchanted seemingly out of nowhere. It is unknown the exact mechanism, but they all seem to stem from some sort of emotional attachment. Family heirlooms, trusted weapons, even treasured articles of clothing have taken on this phenomenon.
