Bags of Holding: Homodimensional or Chronolodimensional?

(This book is incredibly difficult to read. For every passage spent reading, the reader must pass a DC 14 Arcana check. Failing this DC results in no progress, and the hours must be spent again re-reading to again try and grasp the knowledge contained).

Bags of Holding: Homodimensional or Chronolodimensional? by Oswald Gantel

Checked Out By: Anouk, Eli Sohm

"Bags of Holding are created by using the same kind of magical formulae used in the spells created by the legendary conjurers Linus Leomund and Magnamus Mordenkainen. By magically creating a rift between worlds, and containing it within something small like a satchel or pouch, one can in theory store a multitude of different objects. Still, all spells creating dimensional rifts are finite, and cannot store an infinite number of objects. Once a threshold is reached, the dimension becomes unstable, and all contents are expelled."

...

"Thus, through Mordenkainen's Law of Dimensional Chronology, the smaller the rift the more its time is synchronized with our own. Through gravitational theory, we know that mass bends time and space around it, to the point where if something is massive enough it could feasibly alter time itself. This, however, requires a monumental amount of mass, and something as small as a Bag of Holding doesn't contain a rift near large enough to warp time."

...

"The creation of two linked Bags of Holding, where an object could be placed in one and retrieved from its twin, has only been attempted four times with varying degrees of success. In one unfortunate case, the caster was sucked into both simultaneously in such a rapid flux of magical energy and split in half. Further study has since been banned in many institutions, except to those who possess adequate ability to create safeguarding wards against mishaps. However, there was at least one other mishap regardless of the protocols in place: The rift in my alma mater, Hasberg College."

...

"As a result of my studies on the Hasberg Rift, I was able to determine that due to the difficulty in retrieving objects, there must be something drawing the objects and any who enter the rift inwards. This is different than the creation of a space-like environment, something that has been done in the past through enchantments and transmutations. The pull of this rift is unlike these simulations, and it is my theory that the rift is a lot larger than previously believed, and in fact has mass great enough to exert gravitational pull."

...

"Due to the aforementioned calculations, and through the anecdote about the apple my roommate once relayed to me, it is reasonable to assume that time itself is warped in this rift. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to study this further. Attempts to create magical censors to traverse the depths and return results have been mixed, with most being lost in the rift and others reaching a point where the returned signals simply do not come. To that end, I believe that only someone with the power over time itself can successfully traverse the full extent of this rift."

...

"Through these religious texts, I think there is a real chance of restoring this ancient Goddess, and through harnessing Her power we could finally provide a way to see this rift to its full potential. I cannot say for certain what we would find. Perhaps it is simply an endless void, or maybe there will be a supposed "bottom" that contains all the objects lost in its depths. My personal hope, however, is that it will provide a chance to visit the past and gain new insight on our own history."
