This book is a historical document on Udrodzid , written by the chronicler and scholar Vekani who works at Redseekers College in Skaraysk. It states the city's long mining history, and early introduction to metallurgy. There were some breakthroughs in engineering in the city's early history which allowed them to reinforce the stone great amounts, which had led to most of buildings lasting for over a century. The city had a late introduction to outsiders, being underground for some time after "Monsters" were on the surface. By time the city encountered a hunter of Serval, these monsters were long gone. The workforce of Udrodzid were quick to build a road outside to the nearest city, though left distance between the end of the road and their hidden city entrance.
Udrodzid then sent three emissary convoys to Skaraysk, Kapsia, and Wodford, all scheduled to arrive on the same day. Udrodzid quickly introduced themselves to Tulsa-aria as the City State of Udrodzid, a nation that wished to keep their borders, but welcomed cooperation, free trade, travel, and citizenship to anyone who wished to live in their city. Negotiations went extremely well, having introduced itself to the other nations simultaneously. Notably, Skaraysk agreed to Udrodziz keeping all but "Necessary infrastructure and a reservation for future work" above-ground land, provided it does not disturb the surface. Soon, some citizens left Udrodzid, to travel the new world, much safer than their great ancestors stories, or even to live in other places. This was an adjustment to some, as many of the kobolds were sensitive to
the bright sun above. Thankfully, the night is an easy time for many
with this sensitivity, such as the author. Outsiders came to visit Udrodzid, and live in the city. Most outsiders found the space too small, but three years of construction for accommodations had made most public spaces completely accessible to taller folk.
The book ends with three chapters.
A very short one on the day of the collapse, where the author, in their home in the upper warrens, lost friends, family, and their home. they escaped quickly with the help of the service union, a guild of architectual workers and miners, well versed in the city's stone. They seen moments after excaping, the city's entrance exploding in fire, incinerating those behind them as the ground shook, moments later, a humongous red dragon burst from the entrance, slaying most of the service union and flew away to the northeast.
Another chapter goes over the month long recovery effort, and the many survivors who were rescued after the event. It is estimated about 1,200 kobolds escaped the fallen city state. With no communal universal place to return-- had shattered the city, and nation completely.
The last chapter goes over the viability of rebuilding the city, but many survivors state a great fear of this dragon's return, others have stayed, but lack knowledge of how to rebuild. The Service Union was nearly eradicated, and its survivors refuse to return out of phobia. Other nations, while helpful and charitable, do not have the resources or ability to help with excavations, and there were no officials to negotiate such a agreement.
At the very end, the author has left a open invite for any scholar (to converse with), or survivor (to help start a new life) to visit his office in Redseekers College.
