"No... I can't read I'm afraid. My father said it wasn't important for rich folk like us... though, he can read? But maybe he wasn't always so rich."

Son of the Archduke of Elnoson, Bigby Oswald

Uneducated

While rare, when we understand education in the broadest way possible, there are still some in the wide world that are completely uneducated. These folks, for whatever reason, either misfortune, or perhaps lacking any need for it, do not have any kind of education - not practical, not on the job, not in a book. Lacking any sort of education, it hardly needs to be said, does nothing to benefit the uneducated. There are few ways that limit someone's future potential more than depriving them of an education.

The uneducated are looked down upon by almost everyone in society. Many pity them for their lot in life, but just as many, if not more, blame them for their own position, attributing their lack of education to stupidity or laziness, often ignoring the practical barriers that prevented them from getting an education in the first place. Often, the uneducated are also used as a scapegoat for societal problems: overpopulation, poverty, crime, and immoral behavior are often explained away by the presence of the stupid or uneducated. Finally, the uneducated, more than many groups in society, are often infantilized, assumed to be helpless on their own.

Often, due to their lack of experience and know-how, uneducated adventurers are likely to focus on what they do know - if they are good at swinging an axe, shooting a bow, or making big booms, they will generally hone in on using those abilities, and leave more complicated matters up to their better educated companion members. When uneducated adventurers do make a plan, it tends to always be the most head on plan at their disposal at the time.

Adventurers with the Uneducated background suffer in their mental stats from it, and gain no skills, tool proficiencies, or languages. However, to account for the strange tendency of these folks' plans to go well, Uneducated adventurers have the Dumb Luck feat. Dumb Luck: This character has the ability to change a natural 1 on any roll into a natural 20. After the character uses this ability, they must take a long rest before they can use it again.

If you choose Uneducated, you gain the following:

~A -1 to each of the following Ability Scores: Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom~

~The Dumb Luck feat~
