Dhampir

Key Similarities with Faerun's Version

  • Dhampirs are part vampire, part mortal, whose origins change depending on the case. Some are born to other dhampirs, others cursed in magical rituals, others born to strange relations between mortals and vampires, and others the product of mothers turned undead while their child was still to be born.
  • Dhampirs can drink the blood of victims, but lack many of the other potent abilities of full vampires. Nonetheless, they are feared just as much by the folks of Adra. Indeed, most people have no idea that there is a difference between vampires and dhampirs, believing them to be two names for the same creatures.
  • Called by the influence of their evil vampiric self, dhampirs are often want to do evil things. However, they are not nearly as likely to be as cruel or vile as true vampires. Indeed, dhampirs actually have a chance to live a righteous life, should they so choose. They do not require the sustenance of blood, and so can survive without harming other Kith.

Key Differences with Faerun's Version

  • While dhampirs are not nearly as affected by the traditional weaknesses of vampires, this does no mean they have an affinity for basking in them. Dhampirs have no love of sunlight, and tend to feel discomfort at the touch of, for example, holy water. As such, dhampirs might share some of the habits of vampires, though usually not to the same degree.
  • Dhampirs can be of virtually any race - there can be human dhampirs, dwarf dhampirs, elf dhampirs, etc.
