Eladrin

The eladrin are the descendent of the elves that chose to remain in the Feywild after the originators of the elves, as most know them, left for the material plane. The Feywild, by its’ very nature, is a realm of beauty, unpredictable emotion, and chaotic magic. Those that remained became more connected to the Feywilds emotional and natural elements. As such all eladrin are connected to nature to such a degree that they have become part plant matter, an eladrin is also associated with one of the four seasons and the plants that grow on and in them reflect that season. The season can also affect the eladrin's mood, but those who have become more adapted to the flow of magic on the material plane have been able to dissociate their emotions from their season.

Seasons

Autumn – Ash Wood;

the season of peace and goodwill, when summer's harvest is shared with all.

Spring – Green Wood;

the season of cheerfulness and celebration, marked by merriment as winter's sorrow passes.

SummerReed;

the season of boldness and aggression. a time of unfettered energy.

Winter – White Wood;

the season of contemplation and dolour, when the vibrant energy of the world slumbers.

Most eladrin remain associated with a particular season for their entire lives however, there have been cases of some eladrin transforming. Adopting characteristics and aesthetics of a different season.

If an event occurs that ends up shifting a characters perspective, beliefs or severely alters their body and mind, then after finishing a long rest an eladrin can change their season. An eladrin might choose the season that most closely matches their current emotional state or reflects the change they have undergone.

Shifting Cities

The Eladrin cities in the Feywild consist of massive, season appropriate plants and natural element’s, shaped into beautiful structures and buildings. They are chaotic and eccentric, but also constantly changing; growing and shrivelling, seemingly at random. Sometimes these cities cross over to the Material Plane, appearing atop frosty mountain tops or deep in forest glades before fading back into the Feywild.

For a long time, this is how the eladrin moved from one plane to the other, however in recent times these shifting city events have become more and more rare. Leaving Some stranded on the wrong plane, and raising the question of why a once common occurrence has now become so rare.
