Illians
Despite the numerous generations that have passed since humanity freed itself from their illithid slavers, there are a rare few that still carry the mark of their psionic masters. Though most humans were used as labour and food by the illithid, some were experimented on to see their potential for psionic abilities. Those who still carry these genes are rare and an illian is often born from two normal human parents, parents reactions vary greatly for many do not even know of the existence of illians and so may believe their child is cursed or even possessed by some entity. Illians are born with ghostly white skin, sometimes even appearing grey in colour, their body is covered in runic, almost tattoo like, marks and shortly after being born strange, crystal like, protrusions grow all around their head like a crown.
As Illians become more powerful and adept at using their psionic talents, their ‘crowns’ grow larger and more pronounced, and more runic markings appear on their body.
