5. Inventory & Trade

Inventory

A Character may happily carry a number of items up-to or equal to their STR

  • Carrying more items than their STR means they are Encumbered and ALL Attribute Tests are taken with Disadvantage
  • Characters simply cannot carry a number of items more than double their STR.
  • The weight of items is listed under 'Size' in Items.
  • A weapon you are actively wielding does not count as Weight in regards to Inventory.

Trade & Barter

The loot you bring back from the fringes of the West Sector can be sold for a nice profit.

Buying Goods

  • The DM will inform you of the current inventory available at home base.
  • Depending on the vendor's liking, the base price might be more or less than listed in the Items list.

Selling Goods

  • Weapons are usually bought for around 50% of their base value. Merchants tend to fully disassemble, maintain and reassemble weapons before selling them again, and they calculate this into their offering price.

Negotiating

Whether you're selling or buying, you can attempt a CHA Test to receive more or pay less.

  • If you fail, you receive less/pay more based on your score.
    • If you fail by rolling a 17, you pay 17% more or receive 17% for the goods you're trying to sell.
  • If you succeed, you receive more/pay less based on your score.
    • If you succeed by rolling a 15 (with your CHA being 16), you pay 15% less or receive 15% more.

In short: You want to pass the CHA Test with the highest possible roll.
