Hippofilius - Session 28

Journal
I charged through the door, taking advantage of a momentary gap, dragging Braz back away from the slashing of the animated skeletons beyond.

We had pressed on into the labyrinth from the false tomb after pulling a lever that had made odd mechanical sounds echo from the far reaches of this place. We had soon come across a room of skeletons, which had risen from their rest through some fell magic. The bones of humans intermingled with those of minotaur, their horns still balefully sharp atop their gigantic skulls.

We managed to hold them at bay with magic, though Braz’s pottery pendant seemed to be focusing his prayers instead of his usual holy symbol. Odd. Eventually though, we managed to fell them, one by one.

As we continued to pick our way onwards the maze twisted and turned. Braz led our way by the shining light of his magical gem until we came to a curious doorway.

Another room, this one covered in smeared blood opened up. Grooves in the doorway suggested some sort of door and faces lined the walls with holes- given the nature of this place, it seemed clear that there might be some sort of trap. Theo tested his way forward and nothing appeared to happen, but he was unable to open the door across this strange hall.

We tried to jam the grooves with spikes to leave a path to safety open, and I stepped forward to help. As I did, my weight much greater than my light gnome friend, all hell broke loose. Spikes shot from the walls, which tried to close on me, and it was only my swift feet that kept me from being crushed in that room. We picked our way back to the false tomb and pulled the lever again, the odd clanking sounds seeming to reset the trap, dashing back. As we heaved together at that far door, using my bear form for its intense strength, we crashed our way into the tomb beyond.

Darkened stone, a torch still burning with an ever present magical flame. We had found the tomb.

But we were not the only ones. A snort from behind us, the gravelly voice of the minotaur guardian of this place.

Graxis has us trapped.
