Alke - Session 90

Journal

The Jancan’s notes are fascinating. The way in which he can bring metal and magic together, weaving them into each other to give life to these mechanical creatures is utterly fascinating. He’s been showing me his plans, albeit not very patiently so I’ve had to take my ‘learning’ into my own hands. I’ve tried to sneak into his room, the newly created Forge of the Ultros (Xan is not happy, so the less she knows about it the better) a fair few times, but he so rarely leaves it. It’s no secret that he likes his craft better than he likes any of us… or any other living being for that matter. Luckily Hippofilius managed to distract him with the arrival of Volkan’s automaton. Which he seemed quite taken by… maybe there is some hope for keeping him around beyond our trip to Themis. I for one would love to learn as much as I can from him and, oddly, I think he would get along marvelously with our favourite dwarf god.

He’s suggested there are no limits to his skill so I’ve offered him a challenge - making a dragon. With all the excitement with the dragon eggs (especially Helikaon, I don’t think I’ve seen him so animated!) I could not get that idea out of my mind. Could I make a small mechanical dragon? A bit like Aeneas? And Steros has not said no, which I am currently celebrating as a huge win.

I’ve been so distracted by the Jancan and crafting that I think I have been ignoring Loreus. So I’ve written him a short poem and left it on the pillow next to him early this morning…

Cerulean skies and turquoise seas,

Endless canvas brushed by the breeze

White clouds that sway so gently in the hue

Like watercolours of azure blue

Moxena. It’s worrying how she knows how to rile me up. How much my blood boiled as she said those words. She might believe poking at me to be fun, but she’s only making me hate her more, if that was even remotely possible.
