Recently the portal to Icewind Dale opened once again. I have to admit that each time I see that portal I get mixed feelings since Harold's untimely demise. Part curiosity and part dread overwhelms me as the snow is a constant reminder of his last moments, just before I unceremoniously fell through the portal.
An Siubhail had no such qualms and immediately jumped through the purple gate. When he peaked back in he declared that Icewind Dale was under attack and we quickly mustered to investigate. Wax, Jarvis, Shu, Etherume and I made our way through the portal that led to my previous home.
Once we were on the other side we spotted a massive gate in the sky through which a swarm of creatures fell upon the horizon. A massive creature of untold proportions dominated the other side of the gate. I believe Shu named it the lobster monster or maybe a crab. Apart from the world ending portal we spotted a camp of what looked like refugees fleeing from the cataclysmic event.
We hurried to the camp and after dispatching some funny sounding kobolds met Lady Stonewell who surprisingly tasked us with saving a girl from a cave. Not sure how that helps during the end of the world but I guess I have not been in Faerun for a while.
In the cave we killed a cow or a bull covered in steel
plates. Perhaps it also feel from the portal? Once it was dead we decided to
take a quick rest and gather ourselves. I decided to take a moment and document
our progress in case we meet an untimely demise like poor Harold.
