S17 - Meeting with Asmodeus and parting with Gold

Session
August 15, 2021

We were tasked by Glasya to give a letter to a pit fiend in Asmodeus' court named Zapan, who was supposedly wearing a blue pendant. Glasya made us carry some hellwasps larvae in order to pressure us into obeying her.

When we arrived in Nessus (Unknown ), Unknown and Unknown were both looking like prisoners of Asmodeus.
Asmodeus apparently already knew of the danger of the emissaries and expected that mortals like us would come ask for his help.

He made us sign an individual contract with him, with our souls as collateral in case we would abandon this quest of defeating the emissaries. It didn't look like he was trying to scam us but it's Asmodeus after all! Anyways, Unknown didn't even read it and just signed right away. The rest of us were more careful but we signed anyways.

To help us he gave us access to his secret library where we found a book called "Daughter of Unknown") written in infernal with an omniscient narrator, none of the names are written but Halion and Ilian. It talked fondly about a female protagonist, the daughter of Ilian, named Halion (Unknown). She led a troop including two others and a "pet" (who was quite humanoid but less independent than the others). Halion felt a lot of anger towards the gods and especially Unknown as he also didn't seem to like her : demi gods were never supposed to happen and it came out that Halion was born along with two other siblings (one of which was described as being really "regal", we believe the description could fit with the Queen of the Maladrite Empire, Unknown).
The troop tried to trick the gods and make them unable to have any power on the material planes (apparently also including Unknown) but they failed and got cast out. This story happened a very long time ago in the feywild from what I understood, it seems that back then even the elves didn't exist yet.

Halion and her siblings are described as having mastered the "art of the Gods". We also know that if Ilian is the father, the mother is barely mentioned at all and only referred to as "mother".

By brainstorming with Asmodeus, we came to the conclusion that Olaxia and the other emissaries cannot use magic either, so it means that for Olaxia to read minds they need to do it "manually", not being as thorough as they would be able to be with magic.
There are also two things we can use to our advantage :

  • Halion has a blind hatred for Gods.
  • the others and the pet (probably Olaxia) all revere Halion, have faith in her and want to please her.

Using one of the siblings of Halion to have more influence on Olaxia seems like the best idea according to Asmodeus : he could help us arrange a meeting with the Queen of the Maladrite Empire, Unknown, to make us able to modify her memories and bring her to Olaxia in order to "feed corrupted information".

We got sent back later by Asmodeus to Dundasil and while Unknown was really sad that her father was stuck with Asmodeus, Unknown was able to have her Grandfather back. Gold decided that as their soul had already been given to Unknown, they could just end their like writing their book in peace, probably with Unknown at their side.

We arrived 4 days after we left to the Nine Hells (shorter time than what we spent there).
