The nations of Landbreak have not always had such times of even this relative peace. The land has known war and it has ravaged the countryside for hundreds of years at a time. The most recent of those conflicts was The Breaking, from which the city of Swordbreak earned its name. The conflict stretched the continent engulfing all the nations in decades of war, thousands of men marched to claim lands for their kings and thrones.
The bloody conflict stretched on and on with seemingly no end in sight, the lands filled with blood as ground was exchanged back and forth between nation and nation. New fiefs and countries formed out of the conflict, upstart rulers coming to lay claim to any stretch of the world that they could hold onto. Eventually, the strongest among the Broken Knights went to each nation's leaders and brought them reason and sword, if they head not one they imparted the other.
"The fields lay before me, all I see is broken flags and swords, Aspects why must this happen. I lie in wait for the sun to break from the clouds for this endless storm to pass... but it won't. The rain just keeps falling, looking into the grey skies a splash of water lands in my eyes, blinding me for a moment. I pull my hand to my face to see dirt and blood staining everything, the mud around me makes traversing this landscape a death sentence, our horses are stuck any man who makes it but a few dozen feet ends up looking a pin cushion.
I just have to wait for the sun to break for the world to dry, for us to be able to move again, by Cer to even fight would be better. Just to put an end to this waiting, god anything but the waiting. And I feel warmth again, looking up I see a break in the sky. A beam of light breaking through the clouds and illuminating the world below, by the stars can it finally be over. Wait what is that... is that a man? By the Aspects, protect me from this battle, give me a chance to see my wife again, if but one more time."
