Traits (ground / rock)

Creatures considered 'Ground-type Pokemon' or 'Rock-type Pokemon' are almost always creatures that have a burrow speed, and typically some mastery over earth itself. Under less usual circumstances, they may also have the Earth subtype.

They typically, though not always, have the following traits regardless of a species's individual traits:

  • These are typically Magical Beast types.
  • Burrow  The creature grows thick and gnarled claws, allowing it to move through the earth. The creature gains a burrow speed equal to 1/2 its base speed. It can use this speed to move through clay, dirt, earth, and sand. It does not leave a hole behind, nor is its passage marked on the surface.
  • Earth Mastery (Ex) The creature gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls if both it and its foe are touching the ground. If an opponent is airborne or waterborne, the creature takes a –4 penalty on attack and damage rolls. These modifiers apply to bull rush and overrun maneuvers, whether the the creature is initiating or resisting these kinds of attacks.
  • Stone Body (Ex) If targeted by a spell that disrupts or otherwise transforms stone (such as soften earth and stone, transmute rock to mud and stone to flesh), a dødelig takes damage equal to the caster level plus the spell level and is slowed as per the spell for a number of rounds equal to spell level. A Fortitude save (DC equal to 10 + spell level + spellcaster’s spellcasting attribute modifier) reduces this damage to half and negates the slow effect.
  • Vulnerability (Ex) These creatures take half again as much damage (+50%) from spells and abilities with the cold damage type.
