Creatures considered 'Steel-type) are armored, either naturally or manually. Most, if not all, retain weapon attacks that are considered a metal appropriate for overcoming damage resistance.


They typically, though not always, have the following traits regardless of a species's individual traits:

  • Damage Reduction (Ex) These creatures have metallic hides and thus gain damage reduction and hardness equal to the metal their hides are composed of.
  • Vulnerability (Ex) These creatures take half again as much damage (+50%) from spells and abilities that deal fire damage, and take a –2 penalty on saving throws against spells and abilities of the earth descriptor, or otherwise manipulate soil or stone which do not deal hit point damage.
