Right before bed, there is a frantic knock on the front door as Ismark lets in a frantic woman by the name of Mary. She expresses her grief to Ismark and the group and tells them about her missing daughter Gertruda. She is walked home by Ismark and the group finally gets some rest.
The next morning, the party wakes up and takes the coffin of Indirkov to the Church of Barovia for burial. There, they meet the strange Father Donavich who leads the group in a burial service for the deceased. During the service, the group notices a fog surrounding the graveyard and a lone tall figure, standing in the fog with head bowed in respect. Soon after, the mist recedes and the figure is gone.
Once the service concludes, the party hears an un-human yet muffled scream coming from within the church. Once they investigate, they find Father Donavich praying and crying. A confrontation leads to the group discovering the Father's own bite mark on his neck from "feeding" his son. The boy's screams leads the group to the undercroft to confront Doru while Father Donavich pleads with the party not to hurt his son. Once downstairs, Doru attacks and drinks blood from Kirin and Carýll before being disposed of by the party. Father Donavich was also killed by the group, trying to protect his son from further harm.
After burning the body of Doru and casting him into a shallow grave, the group returns to the Burgomaster's Estate to regroup. Once there, they are paid their compensation for assisting with the church service and also agree to taking Ireena to the town of Vallaki. The party then decides to stay one more night in town before leaving for Vallaki in the morning.
