After much searching through town, Iolas spotted an eccentric looking woman into her little shack. He spoke with Jeni Greentree and struck up a deal in order to have her cure his curse for a reduced price. All he had to do, was convince a guard to have tea with Jeni, for she was lonely in her old age. While there, Jeni also helped explain that the 3 women they struck deals with were not witches but Hags, an even more powerful evil.
With some time before having to meet the Baron, the group focused on gaining this discount with Jeni. They came up with a plan and decided it would be easier to disguise themselves as guards rather than convince one. Caleb and Domitrius disguised themselves to look the part using magic, but Wagner wanted to ensure he would come off as completely convincing. He gained useful information from a guard he found on break. Using this information, Wagner was then able to borrow some used armor from Rowley at The Cracked Anvil. He then easily convinced Jeni he himself was a Vallaki town guard. She was so delighted with the visit that she offered to cure the 3 of them of their ailments for a reduced rate. With the group certain that the hags now knew that they betrayed their deal, Kirin threw the hags eye trinket over the wall of the town into the woods.
Soon after, the group met the Baron and Baroness at their mansion for bitter tea and even more bitter conversation. The mansion was busy with work being done in preparation for the upcoming Festival of the Blazing Sun. Conversations with the Burgomaster led to learning of his strange views on safety and happiness in the town. They also briefly discovered one of the Baron's enemies, the head of another noble family - Lady Fiona Wachter, whom the Baron flatly accused of kidnapping 2 of his missing house staff. After leaving the residence, the group came up with a few plans on what to do next.
