The Oceanykan People's Army is the continental aspect of the Armed Forces of the Oceanykan Federation, including both ground and air assets. Prior to the Oceanykan Revolution it was named the Federal Army, and did not have a sister seaborne force (the OPA has the Red Navy as an equivalent at sea). Previously, Federal Army forces were equipped, trained and organised according to the British mode of warfare developed primarily during World War I, but which received significant overhauls in World War II. It was also a small volunteer force without much funding; national defence relied on the activation of Article V and the almost voluntary beginning of total war against a foreign invader. This hypothesis proved to be faulty in limited conflicts such as the New Caledonian War and the subsequent German raid on Farenday, where a small professional force was able to force a political defeat upon Cestlep. Nowadays, both its Ground Forces and the Air Force are organised according to the contemporary Soviet model, and it is this world power which has influenced the OPA the most in all aspects: Oceanykan soldiers train and fight much like their Soviet counterparts, and are being rearmed with imported or licensed Soviet weapons. However, it's soldier's kit and uniforms are still based on the British infantry soldier's.

The Oceanykan People's Army, unlike its Soviet counterparts, divides many of its assets at the brigade level, thus making this unit size the smallest operational unit. This form of organisation arose naturally from the problem of Oceanyka's terrain and limited communication lines, which hamper the deployment of large scale formations. Thus, beginning from the corps level, Oceanykan combat units are structured as follows:

  • Field Corps
    • Field Division (2-4 in a Corps)
      • Brigade (2-4 in a Division)
        • Battalion / Regiment
          • Normally an Infantry Battalion or an Armoured Regiment.
          • 3 Companies or Squadrons.
          • One Weapons Company or Hunt Squadron.

          • 3 Batteries and a Squadron.
        • Regiment
          • Normally a support & sustainment regiment (Engineers, Anti-Air & Logistics)
          • Any number of companies.
        • Brigade Command & Control

A platoon/troop or company/squadron's composition varies depending on the type of vehicle they possess. But for a regular infantry platoon, the following is its organisation:
