Coal is extremely plentiful in Oceanyka, it possesses the largest reserves in the world. Synthetic liquefaction of coal is a technology that had been in the market for decades. However, the 1963 oil crisis triggered a huge demand for these costly facilities, and nowadays there are at least two dozen of them operating using the Bergius process of coal liquefaction.
