The British East India Company (or "British Company") was the titan of the 19th century. It had direct rule over all of India, perhaps as much power as the British crown itself. The Government of India Act 1858 was a terrible blow to their power though, as the British sought to assume control over the Indian subcontinent. Multiple shareholders ran away with whatever they could bring, chased by the Royal Navy for "treason". They settled in Oceanyka and wasted no time in getting to business.

The British Company was no stranger to warfare. They had also brought modern weapons and soldiers. Many tribes and states tried to snatch away the riches that they brought in their huge boats, but the Company was swift and brutal in making them subsidiary-vassals after humiliating defeats. They brought over tens of thousands of migrants, mostly from Britain, and tons of assets to do their business. The Oceanykan Council, formed only a few months before, was looking to make a name and saw the Company's moves as imperialist and colonial. Therefore the Corporate War of 1899 began with Oceanykan irregular militias facing a professional private army. The Council won with help from a Dutch EIC surprise attack and declared victory against the British Company. Cestlep was practically built on reparations and seized assets.

Today they are faring better. Their massive fleets, multiple railways and hundreds of caravan subsidiaries make a killing. Not once have they thought of touching the war or land ownership business since the 19th century though. The international market accepts them despite the memory of colonial abuse. The British Company's fleet has anything one could imagine, from huge Liberty-class cargo ships to actual legitimate battleships. They are still technically at war with the Dutch Company, but the armistice prevents attacks... on land. At sea it's not uncommon to see two merchant ships that recognise each others' flags, take off a few canvas covers to reveal heavy naval artillery and begin firing to no end.
