The VDLC is an Oceanykan company that started as a British colonial charter. It failed to do much in the area of colonisation (except leaving a huge European diaspora in the continent) but found a niche role as an exploration agency. They have been running excursions into the unknown for longer than any other company, possessing far more tradition and empirical knowledge than their competitor Astrolabe. They mostly keep out of each others' ways but fight over contracts for exploration. It is also said that VDLC commandos are some of the best reconnaissance troops in the continent.
