Various stone age inventions such agriculture, domestication and toolmaking were important factors in the creation of an indigenous, Aboriginal proto-civilisation. Perhaps the single most important discovery was Murray Millet, Oceanyka's staple crop to this very day. The continent's ample flora, fertile soils and significant river systems allowed a few agricultural proto-states to flourish. However, the presence of predatory megafauna and a host of natural hazards prevented population explosions, being attracted by the concentration of human prey. This changed with the discovery of copper, heralding the Ancient Age.
