The year 800 BCE is marked by the approximate foundation of the Second Ankic Empire, which emerged from the remains of the First Ankic Empire's intelligentsia following an unknown catastrophe. While not as technologically advanced (owing to the loss of knowledge from mass death), the Second Empire invested large amounts of time and resources in the development of its society proper. As such, its religious, legal, artistic and political practices were far more developed, and while its armies were not clad in full bronze plate as the First Empire's had been, they possessed superior officers, organisation and logistics. This age is characterised by highly interconnected trade routes, sprawling kingdoms and ample farmland. Only occasionally were population centres wiped out by natural disasters or local wildlife. Around 400 BCE ironworking was brought over from South Asia, though its sourcing was limited to meteorite iron. There is one year that is well recorded; the summer of 33 CE, when reports from the Second Empire's coastal garrisons mention the beginning of the Ferozen Invasion and, shortly after, the Dark Ages.
