Corrupt hedonists and sadistic egoists is how most people describe the head figures of the Council before the Revolution. This is the case in the post-WW2 period, known as the Late Republic Era. Whatever funds the Council had were spent in lavish luxuries, corrupt schemes and redistribution to friends and family. Little to no progress in any political aspects were made in this era. It was up to the regional leaders to advance the nation, but low national unity made this difficult because conflicts commonly flared up. The Council did manage to get a few things done, most notably the widely accepted suppression of nuclear proliferation, but overall Cestlep and most of the country were in decay. This, with time, bred civil unrest under the shadows. The loss of New Caledonia to Mardasia and their French allies was like All of that pent up anger eventually culminated in the Revolution, which effectively ended the Old Republic and its era.
A number of crisis in the early 1960s, including outright defeat in the New Caledonian War and the German bombing of Farenday, led to complete political collapse and the subsequent Oceanykan Revolution. Alan Redfort's Oceanykan People's Party found victory in this struggle and began a total reconstruction of the State, leading to the Crimson Age.
