Ferozen Warlords in the Dark Ages

During the Oceanykan Dark Ages, lesser warlords evolved to be something like sergeants, while upper warlords required more administrative abilities and fewer combat ones. The latter had adapted many technologies from the aboriginals, including klongen riding and sailing. Iron armour and larger weapons (better at parrying) were developed to better preserve the life of capable warlords. The Ferozen longbow was introduced, granting warlords ranged capabilities that would not be surpassed until the rifled musket. Other than that, warlords retained a traditional role in Ferozen society. Some of them partially turned from combat and pursued the arts and sciences, becoming a new upper class, a mixture of officer and intelligentsia, leading to the Ferozen Warlords in the Middle Ages.
