The ArmaLite AR-1 Parasniper is an American sniper rifle, ArmaLite's first commercial product. It is essentially nothing but a Mauser-style bolt-action rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO; however, at 2.7kg, it is much lighter than any other weapon of its size and capabilities. The Parasniper's material ingenuity is to blame for this extreme weight-saving; its stock is made out of fiberglass filled with foam, while the barrel is made of aluminium alloys, with the interior being steel-lined. A revolutionary firearm, and perhaps the first of the so-called "Space-age weapons".
