Struggling to obtain oil and rubber for the war effort, the Japanese Empire turned its eyes towards one more lucrative source of such industrial resources; Oceanyka, which was embroiled in a bloody civil war. Japanese landing forces arrived in January 1942, making significant advancements until fall, when guerilla activity and a serious lack of troops to cover the frontline put all Japanese operations on hold. Thanks to American naval superiority, allied logistic support and extreme xenophobia, Japanese forces in the continent had been expelled completely by the summer of 1943.
Though minor in the context of WW2, this theatre was directly responsible for Oceanyka's post-war approaching towards the western powers at the beginning of the Cold War.
