The ArmaLite AR-16 is a 7.62mm NATO battle rifle specifically designed to be easy to produce, operate and maintain, for countries which do not possess the advanced industrial capacities necessary to produce other devices such as the AR-10, the FN FAL or other such western rifles. While not extremely popular, the AR-16 has found ground in Middle Eastern nations, with the newly independent nations of Africa, and within Oceanyka.
