Evans New Model Repeating Carbine

The Evans Repeater is a design by Warren R. Evans, one of the many American designers to jump into the lever-action market in the late 19th century. His design is unique in that it includes a 28-round helical magazine within the stock, making it almost as capable as most modern assault rifles in semi-automatic. That is hyperbole, of course, as the Evans uses black powder .44 cartridges which cannot match the power of contemporary smokeless brass-cased ammunition, and is very slow to reload. Nevertheless, in its time it was a wonder weapon, one which many British and American colonists brought to the continent.
