The 76.2mm Ordnance QF 17-pounder was Britain's heaviest anti-tank weapon in WW2. Its calibre should be of no deception; though smaller than American 90mm or German 88mm cannons, this simple 3-inch bore design was actually deadlier than either of the two thanks to its extremely high muzzle speed and the use of tungsten-cored APDS ammunition, which could go straight through Soviet heavy tanks. It continues to be an effective and beloved tank gun everywhere in Earth.
