The ZiS-3, as described by Leon Trotsky, was a "marvel of artillery weapons engineering". Neither an anti-tank weapon nor a field cannon, the 76mm's unique moniker as the "divisional gun" signals a well-earned "jack-of-all-trades" reputation. It was capable of defeating light and early medium tanks, as well as firing high explosive volleys at up to 14km away. It continued being an effective weapon until the end of the war, and is still a popular piece of artillery for its dual-purpose capabilities.
