The 10.5 cm Leichtgeschütz 40, shortened to the LG 40, is a German recoilless rifle. Designed for Fallshchirmjager paratrooper units, it was supposed to offer these fighters reliable and lightweight artillery support. Its maximum range of 8km is fairly surprising, and allowed it to fulfill this mission in a very small package. After the war it was sold to countries with nascent special forces and paratrooper formations, including the Federal Army's 2nd Paratrooper Division, the infamous "Dropbears".
