The Federal Republic of Neigeland is a country located in South America, made up of former Argentina and Uruguay. It is led by President Antoine Fairworth Suárez, a charismatic liberal politician whose control over the nation is being increasingly challenged by local guerillas, remnants of the German NSDAP and especially by former Army officer Juan Perón. The territories it claims were originally two different states; the Viceroyalty of Rio Grande (part of the Spanish Empire) and the independent Patagonian Confederation (inhabited in equal proportions by native hunter-gatherers, French trappers and English sheep ranchers). After achieving independence, the Argentine Confederation sought to seize control of its southern neighbour, which had by this point developed into a significant economic power of its own. It was defeated and annexed largely due to the south's greater mastery of horse riding and its large amounts of native allies, both countries uniting as the Federal Republic of Neigeland. The name is a mixture; "neige" means snow in French, "land" means territory in English, thus arriving at the settlers' common name for the Patagonian Confederation, "Land of Snow". During the 19th and 20th centuries, Neigeland was characterised by its extremely strong agricultural and livestock industry, which continue to dominate its economy today. After World War I the country suffered from a series of coups and counter-coups which have left Neigeland's stability in shambles. While order and democracy have been restored, insurrectionist forces continue to operate under the State's nose, while NSDAP emigrés still loyal to Heinrich Himmler begin to accumulate influence within the government, hunted down mercilessly by Zioniam's Mossad. But Neigeland's greatest political threat comes from within; Juan Perón, former Army officer and left-wing populist president with ties to Moscow, who seeks support for one last coup.
