XM215 Suppressive Fire Weapon System

The XM215 is a prototype weapon that can be described as a reloadable directional mine. It consists of hundreds of .22 Long Rifle tubes aimed at different directions. When close to landing, the pilot is supposed to fire the weapon, thus covering the LZ in a hail of lead, suppressing or killing any would-be ambushers. This device was created specifically due to the tactical challenged faced by American airborne troops in the Vietnam War, though it is useful in a variety of places, including Oceanyka.
