The Ithaca Auto & Burglar is a small, lightweight 20 gauge double-barrel "smoothbore handgun" (sawn-off shotgun) produced by the Ithaca Gun Company in the 1920s. Proving popular with both security guards and ruffians, the Auto & Burglar never fulfilled its purpose, which was to be carried on automobiles (as the "auto" part alludes to). Oceanykans sometimes carry these shotguns as a "last resort" weapon in lieu of a proper handgun.
