The British developed Armour-Piercing Discarding Sabot technology to improve upon their APCR concept. This type of shot consists of a tungsten carbide projectile embedded in a sabot, which flies off upon exiting the cannon's muzzle. Due to its smaller cross-section and increased density, APDS projectiles were very effective at penetrating enemy tanks, and continue to be used because of their ability to pierce modern MBTs.

Game Stats

When employing generic APDS shot:

  • Apply full DMG.
  • Increase PEN by +2.
  • Calculate no fragmentation.

As APDS Shot is Kinetic, it loses PEN over distance.

  • Point Blank Range - No penalty.
  • Close Range (≤10m / 2sq) -> No penalty.
  • Short Range (≤50m / 5sq) -> No penalty.
  • Average Range (≤200m / 10sq) -> No penalty.
  • Medium Range (≤500m / 20sq) -> -1 PEN
  • Long Range (≤1000m / 50sq) -> -2 PEN
  • Very Long Range (≤2000m) -> -3 PEN
  • Extreme Range (>2000m) -> -4 PEN
