Terminal guidance is a cutting-edge technology by which artillery shells are steered in their final trajectory to approach or directly impact a desired target. Radar-guidance, laser-seeking and heat-seeking are the main methods by which this result is achieved. A major hurdle for guided munitions is that sensitive electronics cannot normally whitstand G-forces associated with being fired out of a cannon. The few prototypes that exist are just that, there are no mass produced guided shell designs in the mid-1960s.
