Birdshot is a term for very low calibre scattershot, typically BB sized. As its name references, it is primarily used to hit fast-moving targets such as birds or giant insects. Such ammunition is absolutely terrible for combat due to its short range, large spread and low energy projectiles. Rather than kill or maim, birdshot wounds tend to cause profuse bleeding, stunning, agony and disfiguration.
