The first Manville Gun was a 12-gauge rotary chamber shotgun designed by Charles J. Manville, an American inventor who would later move to Oceanyka. His first design featured 24 chambers for 12-gauge shells in a double-action mechanism which had to be wound up like a clock before shooting. While designed for riot control, the merits of a fast-firing shotgun with 24 rounds loaded did not go unnoticed by explorers, gangsters and police officers looking for something with more punch. Its cylinder walls are too thin to whitstand high pressure loads.
