The M1 Carbine is an American semi-automatic rifle that fires .30 Carbine ammunition from a 15-round or 30-round detachable box magazine. It is gas-operated and has a short-stroke piston, usually fit with a steel receiver, wooden stock and handguard, and a rear peep sight. M1 Carbines are designed to be lightweight and compact, the perfect weapon for support troops and rear-echelon personnel. It was widely used by the U.S. military in World War II, the Korean War and even the contemporary Vietnam War. Because of its light weight and small size, many Oceanykans prefer carrying this weapon to a larger rifle in places such as cities, jungles and caves where longer and more cumbersome alternatives may prove detrimental.
