The Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp is an American 18-cylinder air-cooled radial engine that powered many important aircraft during and after World War II. It was introduced in 1939 with a displacement of 46 L and a power output of 2,000 hp. It had a 15-stage axial compressor, a cannular combustor, and a two-stage axial turbine. Some of the aircraft that used the R-2800 were the Convair CV-240 family, Douglas A-26 Invader, Douglas DC-6, Grumman F6F-5N Hellcat, Martin B-26 Marauder, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, and Vought F4U Corsair.
